Your Fitness Coach — Gym Membership Platform

Running a modern gym network is about far more than selling memberships. Members expect a polished mobile app to find gyms, book classes, pay, track their workouts and stay motivated; operators need to manage facilities, classes, instructors, pricing, corporate deals and detailed reporting across regions. Delivering all of this in one reliable product means handling payments and recurring billing, real-time class availability, a credit-based booking economy, social and gamification features, and notifications — at a scale that stays fast and stable as the business grows. Your Fitness Coach needed a platform that could do all of this and keep evolving without becoming fragile.

We built the backend platform and admin experience behind Your Fitness Coach — a gym-membership app available on iOS and Android. The system is built as a set of focused microservices, each owning one part of the domain: member profiles, facilities and classes, subscriptions, payments, challenges, achievements, community, notifications and reporting. Two dedicated API gateways sit in front — one tuned for the mobile app and one for the admin panel — so each client gets a clean, purpose-built interface while the services communicate efficiently behind the scenes. Members can buy recurring memberships and class credits through Stripe, book and check into classes, earn coins and achievements for activity, join challenges with live leaderboards, and see friends' activity in a social feed. Operators use a React admin panel with role-based access to manage gyms, classes, instructors, pricing, corporate memberships, promotions and a full suite of reports. The whole platform runs on Kubernetes on AWS with end-to-end monitoring.

Your Fitness Coach runs as one cohesive product across mobile and web: members get a fast, feature-rich app for memberships, class booking, payments and motivation, while operators get complete control over their gym network and clear reporting. The microservices design lets each part of the system scale and evolve independently, keeping the platform responsive as membership and activity grow. Payments, a dual credit-and-coin economy, gamified challenges and a social feed all work together to keep members engaged, while role-based admin tools and regional configuration support a multi-region operation.

We designed the platform around clear domain boundaries, giving each part of the business — members, facilities, subscriptions, payments, challenges, achievements, community, notifications and reporting — its own service that can be developed, deployed and scaled on its own. To keep the clients simple, we put two purpose-built gateways in front: one for the mobile app and one for the admin panel, each exposing exactly what that client needs while the services talk to each other over gRPC. We integrated Stripe for the full membership and payments lifecycle, built a credit-and-coin economy for class booking and rewards, and layered on the engagement features — challenges, leaderboards and a social feed — that keep members coming back. The React admin panel gave operators role-based control over the whole network, and everything was deployed on Kubernetes across AWS environments with monitoring throughout, so the platform stays reliable as it grows.
