Good interview preparation makes candidates perform better — but writing it by hand is slow, and most recruitment agencies simply don't have time to produce a tailored prep document for every candidate they put forward. Generic advice doesn't help, because real preparation has to reflect the specific candidate, the specific role and the specific company. Agencies needed a way to deliver high-quality, personalised, professionally-branded interview prep at scale, without a consultant spending hours on each one.

We built Interview Smart, a platform that turns a candidate's CV and a job description into a polished, personalised interview-preparation pack in minutes. The AI analyses both documents and produces role-specific questions with worked answers, company research, tailored tips and a gap analysis — assembled into a clean, multi-page PDF. Recruitment agencies can fully brand these packs as their own, with their logos, colours, fonts, cover pages and recruiter details, choosing from a set of professional templates or customising their own. Agencies subscribe on a seat-based plan to generate packs for their candidates, while individual candidates can buy a one-off pack directly. The platform handles accounts, branding, billing and delivery end to end, with document rendering handled by a dedicated, scalable service.

We began with the core generation flow — CV plus job description in, structured prep content out — and built it to produce consistent, well-organised packs rather than loose AI text. On top of that we built the white-label layer: a templating system and branding controls so every agency's packs look like their own, frozen at generation time so re-renders stay consistent. We separated PDF rendering into its own Go microservice so the heavy, browser-based document generation could scale independently of the main app. We then layered in the commercial model — seat-based agency subscriptions and one-off candidate purchases via Stripe — along with background job processing, secure accounts and email delivery to make it production-ready.
